Hand Up for Women

Support Our Mission

We are humbled that more than half of our funding comes through individual donors who believe in what we do. These are donors like you! Whether it is a one-time gift, a monthly contribution, a donation in honor or memory of a loved one, or a sponsorship to send a lady through our program, we wholeheartedly appreciate your support!

Mentoring

Be a source of encouragement, accountability, and networking for one of our women. Many times, this is the first agenda-free female friend they have ever had.

Every woman in our program is matched with a trained mentor to serve as her personal support, accountability and encouragement source. Mentors attend a one-day training on a Saturday then, once matched, they meet with their participant once a week. Written covenants are used to outline the boundaries of these relationships.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN TRAINING TO BECOME A MENTOR, PLEASE CONTACT KAREN MILLS AT [email protected]!!

Teaching

We need volunteer instructors in topics like Parenting, Women’s Health, and Personal Self-Defense for our expanded 18-month class session (as of Spring 2025).

Our volunteer instructors are the backbone of our program. We are occasionally looking for new and additional instructors in all subject areas. The night classes are on Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In the event that we begin daytime classes we will need instructors that are available during morning hours on Monday and Wednesday as well as new topics that would be helpful..

Providing Meals

Every Tuesday and Thursday, before class, groups and/or individuals provide a meal for the ladies. This is invaluable for the ladies and instructors that come straight from work.

This is also a wonderful time of getting to know each other and just decompressing after a busy day. Some meal providers sign up for the entire year’s classes and are scheduled for the same night each month. Others prefer to just provide one or two meals a year.

There are openings in the meal schedule for the 2024-2025 class year.  Contact Amanda Roberts at [email protected] for openings if you would like to provide a meal.

Service Project

Help maintain our new property at Miracle Ridge (over three acres!). Trimming trees/bushes, cleaning flower beds, and general landscaping are always appreciated.

Schedule a Speaker

Help spread the word! Have our Executive Director (usually with a graduate) speak to your church, business, or civic group about the organization and share a story.

Attend an Event

Join us for our gala in the winter, Angels and Axles Car Show in the spring, and two graduation celebrations a year.
